As a Nutrition Education and Promotion Analyst at ARETUM, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing nutrition education and health promotion initiatives to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

The Nutrition Education and Innovation Division (NEID), housed within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP), designs, leads, and implements a wide range of nutrition education, marketing, communication, and promotion projects with the goal of motivating consumers to adopt behaviors for making healthy food choices. In addition, NEID leads marketing and communication research involving consumers, health professionals, and nutrition educators to help identify the most effective ways to reach consumers with nutrition education.
Staff within the division lead and manage the development and promotion of MyPlate tools and resources uses social media platforms; email marketing; conference exhibits; marketing campaigns; events; and outreach through the MyPlate National Strategic Partners to help multiply the reach of nutrition education messages to consumers. Activities also include consumer research projects, particularly concept- and message-testing of central message themes and marketing concepts. The division develops and promotes tested and actionable nutrition and health messages and integrates these into new consumer tools and resources and is adept at using the latest and most functional IT platforms to support the use of learning applications that encourage healthful eating.
Responsibilities
- Marketing Communications: Support communications, marketing, and innovative outreach strategies to promote and help people implement healthful dietary behaviors based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the consumer translation of the guidelines in the form of MyPlate. Works within a team of nutritionists to support development of nutrition messages; translation of nutrition recommendations to innovative tools; nutrition education promotional efforts and campaigns; social media; and stakeholder outreach.
- Stakeholder Outreach: Support partnership outreach and engagement activities, including leading the development of a new partnership program that leverages ambassadors as trusted messengers of nutrition education. Identify opportunities for partnerships that align with priorities; develop partnership engagement activities; and assist with the cultivation of partners and partnership activities.
- The NEID Nutrition Education and Promotion Analyst works collaboratively with the Nutrition Guidance and Analysis Division team, as well as others within CNPP, USDA, and other Federal agencies. In addition, Analysts also collaborate with and provide support to external stakeholders.
- Planning, formulating, and implementing public health strategies and/or nutrition training and/or education resources.
- Developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders in order to increase awareness, reach, and engagement.
- Developing and executing outreach and engagement initiatives, including managing and executing outreach campaigns, and developing and managing effective partner engagement and relationships.
Requirements
- Accredited bachelor’s degree in the field of dietetics or similar area (graduate degree preferred).
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of directly relevant experience.
- Experience working in the Federal Government environment a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
