In this role, Senior Statistician possesses a statistical education background and in-depth knowledge of health care systems, advanced computer and software skills, and ability to accomplish all delegated tasks achieving Integrity Management Services business goals producing high quality deliverables to our clients. Senior Statistician works independently and collaboratively with the team to provide analytical data support utilizing statistical software.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains strict compliance, confidentiality and security of the personal health information contained in the data sources.
- Utilizing a variety of methods (e.g., anomaly, social network, machine learning) to identify FWA.
- Formulates queries to extract, manipulate, format and present data stored in relational databases. Use SAS/SQL, Databricks, Python, Spark; other software as appropriate to task.
- Performs data analysis through such functions as: creating summaries and tables; running summary statistics, trend analyses and estimations; refining database queries to generate subsets of databases and tables.
- Conducting ad hoc analytics quickly and accurately.
- Ability to create data visualizations and present analyses and to illustrate trends.
- Provides assistance to Supervisory Analysts and Data Managers in monitoring, updating and maintaining the project management system. Assists Analysts in implementing the system.
- Provides subject matter expertise and guidance to Statisticians and Data Analysts in learning to complete their tasks. Provide technical assistance. Peer reviews Statisticians and Data Analysts’ work and prepares reports on analysis.
- Provides guidance to statisticians and data analysts in assuring quality of project deliverables.
- May serve as a Team Lead by planning, coordinating, and documenting project related activities, managing the team, as well as communicating directly with a client.
- Effectively communicates with and between technical and non-technical end users, providing clear explanation of procedures used and results obtained from data analysis tasks.
- Leads and/or participates in team projects and brainstorming sessions to assess various methodologies for study designs.
- Conduct, validate and peer review sampling and extrapolations. Reviews methodologies for increased efficiency and accuracy.
- Senior Statistician provides expert witness testimony and consultation for ALJ (Administrative Law Judge) hearings. Trains junior staff on ALJ process.
- Remains informed regarding industry changes, trends, best practices and applicable regulations and assesses impact of changes on the project.
- Exercises appropriate discretion and independent judgment relating to company policies and practices in an effective, consistent and professional manner.
- Adheres to applicable policies and procedures ensuring commitment to quality, compliance and security to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data and information.
Requirements
1. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with an analytical or technical focus in a statistics or applied statistics, mathematics or other related approved degree.
2. Possesses a minimum of 5 years of data analysis experience within the healthcare industry.
3. Advanced knowledge of analytic, mathematical and statistical methods.
4. Preferred working knowledge of the Medicaid and/or Medicare programs
5. Proficient in project software: SAS/SQL, Databricks, Python, Spark languages/technologies Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Business Objects, and Outlook.
6. Respond to tasks or requests in a cooperative and timely manner.
7. Demonstrates adaptability to change and initiates or identifies change when necessary.
8. Be a self-starter with a natural curiosity to understand, simplify and explain complex data.
9. Works collaboratively with team members to meet the analytic needs of the organization.
