Job Description:
NuvoLogic Consulting is seeking a System Engineer to join a Scrum team supporting the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of Disaster Recovery & Resilience (ODR&R). This position will contribute to the development and implementation of data analytics tools that play a critical role in helping the SBA prepare for, respond to, and recover from national disasters.
As a System Engineer, you will work with cross-functional teams including data scientists, software developers, GIS specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure that the technical infrastructure supporting these tools is designed, implemented, and maintained to meet the project's high standards for reliability, performance, and scalability.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support the design, development, and implementation of system architectures that align with the objectives of the project. Ensure the system infrastructure is scalable, secure, and efficient.
- Integrate various components of the data analytics products, including software, hardware, databases, and networks, to ensure that they function together as a cohesive system. Work closely with developers and data scientists to ensure smooth system operations.
- Monitor system performance, identifying bottlenecks or areas for improvement. Implement optimization strategies to enhance system speed, capacity, and reliability to meet the needs of the client.
- Ensure that all systems are secure, following best practices in cybersecurity. Implement security protocols and regularly test the system for vulnerabilities to protect sensitive disaster-related data.
- Provide technical support for systems and infrastructure, troubleshooting and resolving any issues that may arise. Work proactively to prevent system failures and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data scientists, and Scrum Team members, to ensure the successful delivery of the project. Participate in Scrum ceremonies and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the system's performance.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including system architecture diagrams, configuration settings, and troubleshooting guides. Ensure that system documentation is kept up to date and that best practices are followed.
- Assist in planning and executing system upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations. Maintain system integrity by applying patches, updates, and configuration changes as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in system engineering, infrastructure design, or related roles.
- Master’s or Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with cloud-based platforms such as Azure is a plus.
- Knowledge of virtualization, networking, and system monitoring tools
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect or similar are highly desirable.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have a valid Green Card to work.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of system architecture, design, and implementation.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems, as well as system administration tools.
- Experience with network and database management, including security protocols.
- Experience in database management, data warehousing, data pipelines, and analytics tools, data processing, ETL processes, and big data technologies, is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience in public sector is preferred
- Relevant certifications are desirable.
- Experience and familiarity with SBA IT systems and infrastructure is a strong plus.
