Full Job Description
Are you looking to join a fast-paced team delivering industry-leading products? The Surface organization is looking for a talented individual to join the Battery Development team to design and characterize leading edge battery packs. As a Battery Development Engineer, you’ll be working in our R&D team analyzing and parsing data, developing/testing battery technologies, and helping build the tools that enable us to run mission-critical tests.
To be successful, you will need to collaborate across a variety of internal functional groups and with external development partners. You will work closely with suppliers and across the industry to vet, prioritize, and develop new cell technology through direct characterization and qualification. You will work closely with Microsoft battery data, exploring datasets for new insights, applying statistical analysis, and extracting key performance indicators. You will use these datasets to model battery performance, degradation, and use cases which further inform battery design and testing. You will also be responsible for developing new battery characterization techniques and analysis methods for finding meaningful insight in battery data. This role will entail building/expanding Microsoft's battery lab capabilities, including training laboratory staff, optimizing processes, and onboarding new equipment.
