Control Risks is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Business Continuity Special Projects Specialist within our Embedded Consulting team. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting a Fortune 100 client's corporate business continuity program, with a specific focus on the Americas region. The Specialist will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing special projects that aim to enhance the corporate business continuity framework, under the leadership of the Head of Business Continuity and Regional Managers. The role will prominently feature responsibilities in disaster recovery planning and testing.
This position mandates the candidate to be onsite three days a week at one of the following locations: Alexandria, VA, Arlington, VA, Herndon, VA, or Seattle, WA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, development, and execution of special projects aimed at improving the global Corporate Business Continuity (CBC) Program. Projects may encompass various topics, including Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, risk management, metrics, facility resilience, and other related areas.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to outline project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with the overarching goals of the Corporate Business Continuity Program.
- Develop and implement detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource requirements to effectively meet objectives.
- Support BC project initiatives as an active project team member.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including IT, ACS, GREF, and CBC teams, to integrate business continuity mechanisms and program enhancements into existing processes.
- Execute the business continuity and disaster recovery strategy as outlined by the Head of Corporate BC and Regional BC managers.
- Analyze extensive datasets to generate meaningful reports and program/project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Develop collateral and communications in support of the business continuity and disaster recovery program and associated projects.
- Conduct training initiatives regarding program, tools, and methodologies.
- Support ISO 22301 initiatives and undertake additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of four years' experience in implementing and managing disaster recovery and business continuity management programs.
- Demonstrated project management expertise with at least two years of proven experience in coordinating, planning, and executing projects from initiation to completion.
- Exhibit strong capabilities to effectively manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities within a fast-paced work environment.
- Display exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats to foster relationships and positively influence decision-making.
- Willingness and ability to travel across the Americas and internationally as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification from Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII), Business Continuity Institute (BCI), or equivalent in business continuity.
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP/PMI, CAPM) reflecting a solid comprehension of project management principles, methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Experience with commercial Business Continuity tools.
- Familiarity with cloud resilience solutions, preferably AWS.
- Proficient in managing and analyzing data from varied sources to align with strategic goals.
- Demonstrated experience in responding to significant disruptive events.
- Aptitude to delve into data, existing processes, personnel, and technological challenges to identify potential risks and opportunities.
The base salary range for this position in California or New York City is $90,000-$105,000 per annum. The specific compensation offered may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided in accordance with California SB 1162 and the NYC Wage Transparency Law.

- The base salary range for this position in Washington is $80000-105000 per year. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
