CPA Firm is seeking a proactive, accountable professional Remote Tax Supervisor with a CPA license to build strong relationships with clients and grow as a team leader in this role.
Job Description
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises staff, helps to manage the tax team and workload, sets priorities, and ensures tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Assigns projects, reviews work, and provides feedback for improvement.
- Conducts performance reviews and addresses issues that arise within the team.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises, fields questions, and helps to keep an ever-growing team of Tax and Financial professionals accountable.
- Assists with training and development of new employees.
- Proactively reviews team members’ work and provides real-time feedback and coaching.
- Provides guidance, support, and training as needed to maintain high performance and
morale. - Conducts weekly check-ins with tax team members.
- Leads client kick-off meetings with the Sales Team, establishing solid rapport with clients as assigned.
- Financial prep, review, and consulting: Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in
accordance with regulatory requirements. - Quarterly Meetings: Runs or attends meetings with clients to go through how they are doing and provides feedback, and estimated tax projections.
- Quarterly Estimates: Review the client’s YTD business and personal income and recalculate their upcoming required estimated payment, create a list of items to consult with the client.
- Tax Return Preparation, tax issue/strategy research, tax notices, sales tax, financial statement preparation, detail review, final review and signs off on tax returns.
- Understands and applies tax reduction strategies.
- Prepares and/or reviews financial statements.
- Provides accounting support to the team as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a licensed CPA
- 5 years of Tax experience is required with proven work experience as a Tax Senior/Tax Associate
- Accounting and payroll knowledge
- Basic knowledge of the tax code for individuals and small businesses with experience in SCorp and Partnership returns
- Proficient in QBO, QBD, and Ultra Tax
- Experience with Project Management Software such as Asana, Notion, Monday, ClickUp, a plus
- Maintain confidentiality
- Strong verbal and written communication kills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to lead, mentor, coach, encourage, and motivate others.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Build strong internal and external relationships
- Ability to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Works well both independently and in a team to meet deadlines.
- Strong planning, multitasking, time management, and customer service skills are most critical.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping
