Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for a Scientist- Radiochemist in Richland, WA.

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA, and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. The Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).
Responsible for performing a variety of scientific duties including, but not limited to: applying approved methods to client samples for the analysis of radioisotopes, reviewing scientific calculations/analyses, preparing specifications, reports and data tables, maintaining laboratory instruments and the written operating procedures, and training and directing analysts. This position will interface with analysts, chemists, engineers, project coordinators and lab management. Candidate must be able to qualify as radiological worker.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing analytical reports and performing technical data reviews.
- Ensuring operational status of analytical equipment by maintaining calibrations, troubleshooting instrument malfunctions and data quality issues, maintaining control charts.
- Providing direction, oversight, and training to analytical technicians.
- Meeting regulatory hold times and client reporting commitments.
- Participating in inter-laboratory proficiency study programs, audits, and assessments to maintain method accreditation.
- Conducting method improvement/qualification studies.
- Acting as subject matter expert within assigned areas.
- Authoring and performing reviews and systematic process improvements for assigned methods, procedures, and test plans.
- Functioning as the technical authority for assigned methods, procedures, and study areas, including person-in-charge functions and configuration control authority.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Chemistry or related scientific discipline and 2-7 years directly related experience
- Strong communication skills and writing skills
- Strong computer skills- candidate must be a proficient user of spreadsheets and word processors
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced scientific degree
- Radioactive material handling skills
- Nuclear facility operations experience
- GEA, AEA, GPC and LSC operation and/or troubleshooting experience
- Familiarity with ion exchange resins and radiochemistry analytical methods

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Grade 16: $86,138 - $108,513
Grade 17: $94,650 - $119,250
Grade 18: $104,175 - $131,425
The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
In accordance with the Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc (Navarro) salary determination process, Navarro takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities and the candidate’s education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. A candidate's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
