Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for a Structural Engineer Associate II in Richland, WA.

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA, and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. The Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).
This position will support the 222-S Complex with structural engineering, project engineering, and other duties as assigned with general supervision. Performs a variety of engineering duties including, but not limited to, roof assessments, anchor bolt and floor loading calculations, developing and approving work packages and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), conducting field walk downs, developing specifications, performing and/or reviewing calculations, testing, design/procedural reviews, and assisting in the planning and execution of field work. Performs engineering work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering or project tasks. Demonstrates problem solving and exercise of judgment as required on advanced level work details and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision:
- Assume technical responsibility for one or more related phases of a project and cooperate with other engineers performing related phases of technical work.
- Use and/or application of codes and standards and engineering principles to prepare floor loading calculations, equipment anchorage calculations, roof assessments, and other design engineering documents as assigned.
- Implement and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) for assigned systems. Support the team planning process to develop work instruction to safely implement designs within the 222-S Complex. Oversee field modifications and acceptance testing and perform field work walk downs.
- Prepare technical reports and review designs, plans, and shop drawings. Perform structural analysis using MathCad, AutoCAD, Smart Plant, and other software. Apply working knowledge of IBC, ASCE, AISC, ASTM, ACI and other structural codes, manuals, and standards to engineering design.
- Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, maintenance, operations, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
- May function as lead specialist engineer on a task force or special assignment, coordinating the activities of the task force engineers from the discipline specialty.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Structural Engineering or similar engineering discipline, and a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of nuclear engineering experience.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Grade 16: $86,138 - $108,513
In accordance with the Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc (Navarro) salary determination process, Navarro takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities and the candidate’s education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market.
