Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Scrum Master with strong experience in gathering requirements, creating epics and use cases, and managing development teams for hardware products. The ideal candidate will have a background in both software and hardware development, with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in the delivery of complex hardware devices, using Agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scrum Leadership:
- Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Scrum ceremonies.
- Guide and coach the Scrum team in Agile best practices, fostering continuous improvement.
- Remove obstacles that may hinder team progress and ensure timely delivery of sprint goals.
- Work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to define and prioritize the backlog.
- Requirements Gathering & Documentation:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements for hardware products.
- Convert business and technical requirements into detailed epics, user stories, and use cases.
- Ensure clear and concise documentation, acting as the bridge between business needs and development efforts.
- Backlog Management:
- Own the product backlog and work with stakeholders to prioritize user stories based on business value and technical feasibility.
- Break down high-level requirements into manageable epics and user stories for hardware development.
- Define acceptance criteria for stories and ensure the team delivers to these standards.
- Hardware Development Oversight:
- Work closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and other team members to ensure that the development process integrates both hardware and software components seamlessly.
- Lead teams in delivering physical hardware products, from prototyping to production.
- Monitor and adjust processes to fit the specific needs of hardware development, which may differ from purely software-focused projects.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Act as the primary point of contact between hardware engineering, software development, and other departments (such as QA, manufacturing, and supply chain) to ensure project success.
- Facilitate communication across diverse teams to ensure alignment on objectives and timelines.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance team efficiency and productivity.
- Champion the use of Agile methodologies in hardware development and continuously refine practices to align with organizational goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.
- 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, preferably in hardware product development environments.
- Proven experience in gathering requirements, writing epics, and creating detailed use cases for hardware and software integration.
- Solid understanding of the hardware development lifecycle, from concept through production.
- Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and the ability to adapt them to hardware development projects.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and QA.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, or Confluence
- Experience working collaborating and leading teams in a fully remote environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in industries related to IoT, embedded systems, or consumer electronics.
- Knowledge of hardware prototyping tools and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with Agile scaling frameworks such as SAFe or LeSS.
