Full Job Description
The Downtown Sales Ambassador works closely with the Director of Marketing to develop and execute sales strategies, presentations, and meetings primarily geared toward the Downtown San Diego market which is composed of a variety of groups including residents, corporations, tourists, community homes, seniors, students, alumni associations, etc.
This position works collaboratively towards the achievement of maximum ticket revenue and audience development growth through the cultivation of relationships and sales in the target markets while maintaining the San Diego Symphony’s vision and values.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all San Diego Symphony presented concerts and events.
- Create and maintain an extensive, organized, and prioritized list of current and potential groups and their primary contacts.
- Build a dynamic network of relationships with the concierges and heads of downtown San Diego residential buildings.
- Guide the development and creation of key sales materials (brochures, email formats, presentation decks, etc.) to be used in Downtown marketing and sales efforts, in cooperation with the Marketing Director.
- Represent the San Diego Symphony at select annual and monthly meetings with constituent groups and networking events.
- Work with Director of Marketing to build annual sales plan to achieve sales goals. Plan should include target audiences, detailed marketing and sales strategies and tactics, timelines and measurement.
- Maintain and distribute accurate recruitment reports.
- Work with Corporate Relations Manager for developing sponsor contracts and ticket promotions.
- Work closely with Database Administrator to manage Group and Corporate patron data.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent sales skills.
- Experience or comfort with public speaking.
- Evidence of personal investment in ongoing professional development.
- Firsthand knowledge of San Diego’s philanthropic, business, and arts communities.
- Knowledge of and passion for classical music performance and music/arts education.
- Team player with the ability both to lead and to follow.
General Requirements:
- Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for concert and rehearsal coverage.
- Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Able to pick up and move a minimum of 20 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- Regular, predictable attendance required as well as evening and weekend work shifts.
- Normal office working conditions: sitting at a desk and computer terminal for long periods of time, typing and computer work, light to moderate lifting.
Benefits
Pay Rate: $36.00/hour
