Full Job Description
The position of Automation Engineer II will be a part of ESCO Group’s Automation Team and will be responsible for being a leading senior resource for automation projects.
OBJECTIVES YOU WILL MEET
As the Automation Engineer II, you will be responsible for providing technical services alongside a highly technical team. Objectives include:
- Program and configure programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interface (HMI) systems to control and monitor industrial processes.
- Design and implement industrial automation projects that improve operational efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Perform delegated programming tasks according to process narrative and/or client specifications.
- Leverage existing display objects and templates to perform program modifications.
- Perform primary testing as defined by Senior resource as part of internal and external acceptance testing.
- Provide technical support to clients during commissioning and post-project stages.
- Interpret process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) to identify individual I/O components.
- Familiarity with Ladder Logic Programming and with automation platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, etc.
HOW YOU WILL MEET THOSE OBJECTIVES
- Continuously improve programming skills by staying updated with the latest advancements in PLC programming and HMI development.
- Create a structured approach to troubleshooting including diagnosing issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective resolutions.
- Participate in industry webinars and conferences to expand knowledge and share insights with team members.
- Obtain a deeper understanding of various automation components, protocols, and systems used in the industry.
- Be motivated and self-directed in the completion of delegated project tasks.
- Collaborate with project teams effectively to ensure project success.
- Travel to client sites and perform physical duties to implement, test, and commission automation systems.
Requirements
• Completion of other Bachelor’s or an Associate’s degree program in a related discipline from an accredited college, technical school, or university and seven years or more of related work or industry experience.
• Advanced Degree in Engineering strongly preferred
