Full Job Description
The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting for a general dentist for a community health center in Des Moines, IA.
Position Details:
- Eligible for student loan repayment up to $50,000 for two years of service (and renewal possible)
- Clinic Hours: Monday - Friday 8AM – 5PM; no weekends
- Avg # of pts seen per day: 13 with additional hygiene checks
- Number of operatories: 9
- Laboratory: external laboratories used for fixed and removable prosthodontic cases
- X-ray: Digital
- Current Staff: 1 FT General Dentist, 1 FT Hygienist, 2 PT Hygienists
- Call Schedule: After 6 months of employment, dentists are expected to take call in 2 week increments approximately 3x/year. Not required to go into clinic while on call.
- Electronic record system: Epic Wisdom
- Additional info: diverse patient population with many Spanish-speaking patients
Requirements
- DDS/DMD degree from an approved dental school
- Current license to practice dentistry in the state of Iowa
- Current license to prescribe narcotics used in patient care (DEA & CSA)
- Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Certification
- Eligible for hospital privileges
- Ability to consistently meet the departmental work schedule as designated
- Ability to treat patients of all ages within the scope of general dentistry
- Ability to perform surgical extractions
- Ability to perform anterior root canals
Ideal Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- Desire to pursue a long-term career in community health
- GPR or AEGD residency completion
- Interest and experience in pediatric dentistry and oral surgery

- Your experience and skills determine your base pay. The hiring range for this position is typically $150,000 - 170,000, though highly experienced candidates may earn up to $204,000 per year.
