Full Job Description
Anna's House is looking for an experienced and driven Accounting Specialist to support the Finance Director in the daily accounting functions of the business.
The Accounting Specialist will perform complex clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting assignments and prepare accounting statements, financial reports, and company payroll.
Responsibilities
- Prepares financial reports and various accounting statements
- Posts journal entries to general ledger
- Performs various bank and cash reconciliations
- Generates summary sheets to be used by supervisor or auditor
- Processes payroll and prepares necessary payroll reports
- Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy
- Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Education
- Associates degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Experience
- At least one - three years of accounting experience required
Skills
- Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures, with ability to train others in related practices and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Proficient with accounting and payroll software
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems
- Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
Work Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
