About This Role
Our legal team is looking to hire an experienced commercial real estate paralegal with transactional experience. As a paralegal, you will assist with all phases of the deal cycle; this includes projects financed with low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC), tax-exempt bonds, HUD loans, and other state and local subsidies. You will also closely assist with entity formation, qualifications, entity compliance and maintenance, document preparation and management, title and survey, due diligence, and the deal-closing process.
This position collaborates with an in-house team of Paralegals, reports to the General Counsel and works closely with the Associate General Counsel and outside counsel. This is a hybrid role with three (3) days in our Midtown offices in New York, NY.
Requirements
What You’ll Do
- Review title, survey, and title commitments and respond to title and survey comments from counterparties.
- Perform due diligence, coordinate and implement transactions, and work with the team to close affordable housing transactions.
- Work with vendors to order various due diligence certificates and searches
- Work directly with the title companies to finalize title policies for transactions
- Use project management tools and techniques to assist with work plans, budgeting, and tracking
- Track transaction tasks and phases and communicate progress to the team as issues and/or items are resolved
- Prepare signature page packets and coordinate signatures of various deal participants
- Draft corporate-related documents, including operating agreements, incumbency certificates, and written consents
- Prepare closing indices and binders and follow up on various post-closing matters
- Conduct research and gather information using general and legal research tools
- Other duties and projects as assigned
What You Bring
- Must have corporate and commercial real estate experience
- Ability to work and operate independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Exceptional document drafting and proofreading skills to ensure that all documents are error-free and accurate
- A team-oriented mindset and a passion for contributing to the Company's mission-driven initiatives
Your Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a corporate real estate environment required
- Experience as a commercial real estate or affordable housing paralegal with finance experience

Benefits
The expected base salary for this role is $100,000 -- $120,000. This represents the current target and is subject to change. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity.
