Position Overview:

Gottstein Corporation is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to support our payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ADP and ComputerEase to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. The Payroll Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining employee payroll records, processing payroll, and assisting with compliance and reporting.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Payroll Manager with the preparation and processing of the company's payroll using ADP, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Utilize ComputerEase for timekeeping, job costing, and tracking labor hours, ensuring data is accurate and up to date.
  • Verify and process employee timesheets, wage adjustments, bonuses, and other payroll-related changes.
  • Handle payroll-related queries from employees, providing timely and accurate responses and escalating more complex issues to the Payroll Manager when necessary.
  • Support the reconciliation of payroll data between ComputerEase and ADP to ensure alignment and accuracy of information.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of payroll taxes and compliance reports, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in both ADP and ComputerEase, including direct deposit information, tax withholding forms, and other payroll-related documents.
  • Assist in preparing payroll-related reports and summaries for management, including headcount, labor distribution, and overtime reports.
  • Collaborate with HR and Accounting departments to ensure payroll data is integrated with employee benefits, deductions, and other compensation details.
  • Assist in year-end payroll activities, such as W-2 and 1099 preparation.
  • Stay informed of changes in payroll laws and regulations and ensure company compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in payroll administration or a related field.
  • Proficiency in ADP payroll systems is required.
  • Experience with Computer Ease for time tracking and job costing is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of payroll best practices and familiarity with relevant labor and payroll tax laws.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with other accounting or payroll software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
