Full Job Description

Under general supervision, employee provides varied support and services to customers of Elections and Voter Registration Department. Essential functions fall into three categories: customer service, department support, and election responsibilities. A sampling of those associated with customer service includes: delivers courteous, efficient service to contacts at office counter or by phone; furnishes instructions for completion of absentee ballots; accepts and reviews candidate petitions for complete information and attachments; and performs other duties associated with department. Support includes: maintains supplies; processes incoming and outgoing mail; files; completes and sends voter registration reports; and processes voter registration applications. A sampling of essential functions associated with elections responsibilities includes: prepares and distributes absentee ballots; prints and prepares poll books; and processes application batches.

Requirements

Qualified applicants will be fluent in English at a sufficient level to read, write, and communicate with customers; hold a high school diploma or GED; and possess one year's related experience, preferably in an office environment. Skills sought include: a strong customer service orientation; ability to make decisions on the basis of precedents and regulations, and to apply either at work issues; proficient and accurate data entry; demonstrated experience working within a fast-paced environment with frequent change and the need to meet regular deadlines; ability to set up Excel spreadsheets, create Word documents, and communicate through e-mail; organizational skills, and proofreading abilities.

Physical requirements are: strength necessary to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds; manual dexterity to perform data entry , filing, handwriting, vision, hearing, and ability to sustain predominantly sedentary job.
